Pastoral Care

Our TEACH Trust schools are not just about academic achievements, but the safety and development of the whole child.  We recognise that, for all our children to achieve their full potential we also need to take care of their emotional well-being.  All staff in all the TEACH Trust schools work together to support the children to achieve their very best educationally, socially, physically and emotionally.

If you have any concerns about your child, whether it is at school or at home, then we are happy to listen and help where we can. If you require any support in the home with your child or family, then we can direct you to the relevant services that may be available to help. If you would like to speak to the Pastoral Care Worker then please contact them:

or via email at pastoral.chjs@teachpoole.com

Sometimes things happen at home, large or small, which can affect your child and it can often impact on them.  It is important to us that we are aware of these issues and we will do our very best to support you in any way you can. If we are unable to give you the support needed, we can discuss your concerns with other professionals who may be able to support you, such as Bereavement Counsellors, the School Nurse, Targeted Support Practitioner and many more.

If you are concerned about the welfare of a child or family, you can contact First Response directly on 01202 123334. You can also contact the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 or email help@nspcc.org.uk

ELSA SUPPORT

As part of our Pastoral Care support, in each school, we have the benefit of an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) who is trained to help children with any emotional support.  Where members of staff feel that a child needs additional support to develop their emotional intelligence or resilience, we would discuss this with the parent and may offer them sessions with our ELSA.  They can support children with the following:

Emotions, self-esteem, social skills, friendship skills, anger management as well as loss and bereavement.

This support will normally be for six sessions and last up to 45 minutes, either on a 1:1 basis or as part of a group.

Our ELSA is Mrs Fleming.

EARLY HELP

If you are struggling at home we can refer you to BCP council's Early Help service. This could be for Targeted Support Practitioner to support you with parenting, managing behaviour, setting boundaries, routines, home safety and family relationships. We can also refer you to parenting programmes. Please contact the Pastoral Care Worker for further information.
